Commissioner - David Winberry
Was born July 21, 1941 in Onslow County on a 3rd generation family farm during the early stages of World War II.  The U.S. Government acquired  the farm and it is now a part of Camp Lejeune.

When I was two years old my parents bought and built on the tract of land in Cedar Point that I still live on.  I can remember when there were only  18 or 20 families living in Cedar Point.  It was 99% farm and wood land and everybody knew everybody.  Only a dozen or so cars a day traveled highway 24.  Fish were plentiful in Bogue Sound and small game plentiful on the farm and wood lands.  It was a perfect place for a young boy who loved fishing, hunting and nature to grow up in.  It was paradise to me, right out of my back door.

After graduating from Swansboro High School in 1959, I joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served 4 years active and 2 years reserve.  After being discharged, I went to work for the Federal Government and retired after 31 years service as a Fire Captain.

At that point in my life I returned to my grass roots, “farming”.
My wife, Sarah and I decided to use the existing barns that were on the farm and that is when Winberry Farm Produce on Highway 24 was born.  We tend about 85 acres, which keeps us very busy in the growing season.
This was our 18th year of being in business and we are still going strong.  As long as we are both in good health, we see no end in sight.

I still enjoy fishing and hunting as much as I did “back when”.  I feel it a must to go fishing at least two times a week and hunt every day, when in season, except three days a week I set aside for golf.

I have served previously as Commissioner of Cedar Point from November 30, 1989 to November 28, 1995.

My life in Cedar Point has been good.  I can’t imagine ever living any other place.  I can be reached at 252-725-9717 or winfarm@embarqmail.com

Commissioner - Bill Ennett
Bill is a direct descendent of Dr. George Noble Ennett, whose wife, Lucretia Borden was the daughter of William Borden.  Bill’s father, William Borden Ennett, was Swansboro’s first druggist and operated, what is now known as Yanni’s “Ye Old Drug Store”.  The store has not changed from the time Bill’s father ran the store.  The same soda fountain counter and swivel seats are still there.  It was Bill’s job to get a pail of ice from the ice house, now know as the Ice House Restaurant.  Bill was paid a whopping 10 cents per pail of ice which he quickly exchanged for an ice cream cone.

Bill is a graduate from UNC-Western Carolina.  He graduated with a degree in business with a concentration in marketing management.  Bill oversee’s, Bogue Sound RV Park Inc., formerly known as Vacation Village Mobile Home Park.

Bill served two terms as commissioner of Cedar Point from the years 1997 to 2006.  During his term, Bill was street commissioner and was instrumental in getting the sidewalks in Cedar Point.

Bill has a son named Samuel Borden Ennett.  Bill and his son both enjoy photography and they make it a point to spend a week together every year shooting pictures.  Their first adventure was Yellow Stone National Park and the Grand Tetons.  Bill is an avid Hobie Cat sailor and hopes to take up Kite Surfing.

Bill is available to help anyone anyway he can.  He can be reached at 252-393-8123.
