2008 MCAS Cherry Point Air Show
North Carolina’s largest air show, the Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point Air Show will host the area’s premiere spectator event June 6-8.

The East Coast’s largest Marine Corps air station will again open its gates to the public during its now annual open house highlighting the latest in Marine Corps warfighting technology and military aviation.
This year also marks the anticipated return of the U. S. Navy’s premiere flight demonstration squadron, the “Blue Angels.” Featuring the F/A-18 Hornet, the Blue Angels’ mission is to enhance Navy and Marine Corps recruiting efforts and to represent the naval service to the United States, its elected leadership and foreign nations. The Blue Angels serve as positive role models and goodwill ambassadors for the U. S. Navy and Marine Corps.

On Friday, June 6, the air show will again host the state’s only “Night Show,” featuring afterburners, rocket trucks, aerial pyrotechnics, skydivers, plus, a wall of flame – all culminating in the area’s largest fireworks display. Gates for the Night Show open at 5 p.m. with flying commencing at twilight.

Saturday and Sunday both will highlight full “Day Shows” with a large variety of military and civilian aerobatic demonstrations, plus dozens of historic and modern military static displays. Military acts will include: the Blue Angels, a Marine Air Ground Task Force demonstration highlighting the U.S. Marine Corps’ finest capabilities, an AV-8B Harrier demonstration, plus several flybys and demos.

The air show will also highlight ground activities for the kids, an outdoor recreational show, various rides and simulators. Admission and parking are free.
