4 v 4 Coed Indoor Volleyball Tournament
Tournament location: Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation Community Center gymnasium. This is a “coed” tournament and players must be at least 16 years old. Pre-registration is required (no game day registration). Registration deadline is Friday before game day at 5pm. Team fee is $55 per team with prize money going to the top two teams (70% to first place; 30% to second place). Tournament capacity is 6 teams.
Teams must bring their own ball and will act as officials when not playing. Note: officiating may be required after elimination FIVB rules apply. For registration, payment and general information, contact Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation at 252.354.6350.

Art From The Heart
This two-week exhibition and sale of original, innovative and traditional works by area artists occurs each year in mid-February, with the opening reception on the Friday night before Valentine’s Day. This exhibition is a great opportunity for art lovers to view and buy original oils and acrylics; water media; photography and computer generated art; glass, stone, fiber arts and other three-dimensional artwork; pastels and drawings; and mixed media. Proceeds benefit the artists and the Arts Council. Admission is free.

Empty Bowls Fundraiser
This annual event raises money to feed the hungry and is very popular. Carteret Community College, local potters, high school students, art classes and area restaurants team up for this event in an effort to raise money for Hope Missions and Martha’s Mission. For $18 guests receive a handcrafted ceramic bowl and a choice of two delicious soups. Tickets, which are required, are sold in advance, usually in beginning in January, at various locations. This is a popular event and sells out quickly, so call early. 252-247-3883.

21st Annual Emerald lsle St. Patrick's Day Festival
Sponsored by Emerald Isle Business Association on Saturday, March 17th from 9am-5pm at the Emerald Plantation shopping center. Admission and parking are free for the festival.
This year’s festival will feature over 75 arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, clowns and static displays along with amusement rides, a climbing wall, face painters, and many other fun, family-oriented activities. As always, the festival will feature delicious foods such as corned beef and cabbage, shrimp burgers, hamburgers and hot dogs, Mediterranean cuisine, BBQ, funnel cakes, fried peanuts, cotton candy and much, much more. Festival goers can also enjoy a beer garden. The Little Ms. & Mr. Leprechaun Contest will take place on the main stage at 11am. The contest is for boys and girls ages 2-3 and 4-5 with each participant being judged on the originality and creativity of their costume and overall stage presentation.
Contest organizers require pre-registration by 12pm on Friday, March 16th and ask that participants be under the main stage’s tent by 10:30am on the day of the event. Please contact 252.354.6350 to register.
