John Nash was elected to a full term as Commissioner in 2021, after being appointed by the Board of Commissioners to fill a vacancy on the Board in 2018. 

John represents the Town on the Western Carteret Interlocal Coordination Agency Board and on the Eastern Carolina Council of Governments. He also serves as the Town’s Parks and Recreation Commissioner.

Prior to his Appointment as Commissioner, John served as a Member, Vice Chairman and Chairman on the Cedar Point Planning Board and briefly on the Board of Adjustment.

John was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri and has a Master of Public Administration from The American University in Washington, D.C. John retired and moved to Cedar Point in 2015 after 31 years in Public Service. He and his wife Alice have two adult children, Martin and Maggie.
